›     About the art of generating cooling without compression
The common characteristic shared by common electrically driven chillers and thermally driven adsorbers and absorbers is that the available cooling is supplied by evaporating a refrigerant at the lowest possible temperatures. While the required pressure difference in the refrigerant circuit of compression chillers is generated by an electrically driven compressor, sorption chillers rely on chemical and physical processes to lower the temperature level required for cold production below the ambient temperature by utilizing the drive heat.
